Marissa McKool, MPH is the Founder of McKool Coaching where she helps Master of Public Health (MPH) grads figure out what’s next while also helping them to stop feeling so miserable and start feeling in control of their career again.
Marissa got her Bachelors of Science in Public Health at University of Arizona. During her time in undergrad she was an International Volunteer at Cross-Cultural Solutions (Lima, Peru), a HIV/AIDS Educator at Support for International Change (Tsamasi, Tanzania), an Afterschool Tutor and Dance Teacher at Higher Ground a Resource Center (Tucson, Arizona), and as an Administrative & Direct Services Intern at Emerge! Center Against Domestic Abuse.
After graduating, she went on to work as a Medical/Clinical Liaison, Behavioral Health Therapist at Pantano Behavioral Health SVC in gap year before pursuing a masters degree.
Marissa then decided to get her Master of Public Health at Emory University. During her time here she was a Graduate Teacher at Emory Pipeline Program, a Graduate Research Assistant at Morehouse School of Medicine, a Graduate Research Assistant at CDC, and an Evaluation Associate at Rollins School of Public Health.
After graduating from her MPH, Marissa was able to secure an ORISE Fellowship. Marissa and a four other fellows created the Executive Committee Member at CDC Fellows Professional Development Collective as a means to bring more tailored professional development resources to current ORISE Fellows.
She then went on to become the Assistant Director for the Center of Excellence and Maternal & Child Health at UC Berkeley School of Public Health. She was then shifted in an Executive Director position at the Wallace Center for Maternal & Child Health.
In February 2021, Marissa founded her business, McKool Coaching. Here she helps Master of Public Health (MPH) grads 2-5 years post degree who love public health, but secretly hate their job, figure out what’s next. She also host the podcast Thoughts Are Your Root Cause Podcast.
