Episode 20 of Public Health Careers
In this episode, I get to chat with my Brianna Baker, PhDc, BS, whom currently started her PhD in Counseling Psychology at Columbia University Teacher’s College.
Brianna began her collegiate career at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a double Major in Psychology and African American Community Health & Resilience. She shares some of the participatory research experiences she had helping Eastern North Carolinas from Hurricane Matthew as well as being selected as a Frances L. Phillips Travel Scholarship from UNC.
Brianna has worked as a Research and Policy Analyst at Duke University. Some of the other roles that Brianna held were; Community Health Education Coordinator at NAMI, Research-to-Policy Collaboration Doctoral Student Fellow.
She currently works as a Public Health Analyst at RTI International and as a Freedom Summer Community Organizing Fellow from North Carolina Black Leadership and Organizing Collective. Additionally she works in two research labs: the Cogburn Research Group and Stigma, Identity, and Intersectionality Lab in Columbia University’s Teachers College
Being the trailblazer that she is, Brianna has recently launched her website BriannaABaker.com as well as having a YouTube and Twitter accounts.
Also September 20-26th is Black & Mental Health Week which highlights black excellence in the mental health field.
