Today we have Nicholas Alford, DrPHc, MPH. He is a passionate health policy and management graduate interested in preventative health interventions, health program planning, grant writing and translational research.
Nicholas got his Bachelors of Science in Health Studies at University of Louisiana at Monroe. During his time here, he was Campus Activities Board President at ULM Student Life and Leadership Center. And then he solidified his want to be in public health through a Grants Management Intern at St. Francis Medical Center.
After graduating, Nicholas went back home to Lousianna and became a STEM Summer Camp Director at Tangipahoa African American Heritage Museum & Veterans Archive. Then he worked as an ER Patient Access Associate at North Oaks Health System. He was able to get credentialed training for Grand Central/Cadence/Prelude.
Nicholas then went on to get his Master of Public Health (MPH) at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (Florida A&M) where he was a Delores A. Auzenne Fellow. After getting his MPH, Nicholas worked as an Office Automation Specialist at Florida Health.
He then decided to stay at Florida A&M and continue on to get his Doctor or Public Health in Behavioral Science and Health Education. He was a Medical Health Care Program Analyst at the time of this interview where he does policy research. However as stated in the interview, Nicholas will be starting a new role as a Health Equity Evaluator at the Florida Department of Health.
