Shemeka Thorpe, Ph.D is Assistant Professor in Health Promotion at University of Kentucky. She is an award winning sex educator, researcher, and trained public health practitioner. She focuses her research on Black women’s sexual wellbeing using sex positive frameworks.
She conferred a Bachelor Human Development and Family Studies at University of North Carolina at Greensboro. While here she was a Undergraduate Research Assistant at Triad Child Study. After graduating she became a Program Coordinator at YWCA Greensboro.
Shemeka then conferred a Master of Science in Family and Child Sciences at Florida State University (FSU). While here she worked as a Graduate Research Assistant, a Teaching Assistant at FSU, a Program Assistant Consultant at The Center of Better Health and Life for Underserved Populations.
Shemeka then decided to pursue a PhD in Community Health Education at University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She was a Graduate Research Research Assistant at UNCG. She also Co-Founder of The Minority Sex Report.
She then worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at University of Kentucky.
Shemeka now works as an Assistant Professor and a Faculty Affiliate at University of Kentucky.
