Dawn Hunter, JD, MPH, CPH is the Director of Southeastern Region for the Network for Public Health Law. She has deep experience with executive leadership experience, focusing on health policy, legislation, and government relations.

Dawn got her Bachelors in English at Princeton University. She was able to work as a Team Leader/Case Manager at The Children’s Home, Inc and as an Adoptions Case Manager at Camelot Community Care, Inc.

She then pursued a second Bachelors in Microbiology at University of South Florida (USF). She worked as a Research Assistant at USF in the Advanced Biosensors Laboratory.

Dawn then went on to pursue her Juris Doctor (JD) at Stetson University College of Law. She elected to do a dual degree and get her Master of Public Health at the University of South Florida. During this time she worked as Volunteer Staff at National Clearinghouse for Science, Technology, and Law, an Intern at The AIDS Institute, had a Federal Judicial Externship at US District Court in Alabama, and as a Legal Intern at City of St. Petersburg, Florida.

After graduating, Dawn worked at the New Mexico Department of Health in many capacities. She began as a Public Health Law Fellow, and then was promoted to Deputy Director, Office of Policy Accountability; Director,Office of Health Equity, before being promoted to Director of Office of Policy and Accountability. After a government change, she was moved into the role of Deputy Cabinet Secretary before moving back into the Director at the Office of Policy and Accountability.

Dawn then moved into a Senior Director of Policy, Strategy, and Legal Services at Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg. She was then promoted to Chief Innovation Officer.

Dawn now works for the Network for Public Health Law. She began as a Deputy Director and is now the Director for the Southeastern Region for Network for Public Health Law.
