Jasmine Leonard, MPH is the CEO & Founder of Health Equity Jazz and is also the Health Equity Enterprise Manager at a Large Health Plan.

Jasmine got her Bachelors of Arts in Human Biology and Africana Studies at Brown University where she started off in the Program in Liberal Medical Education (PLME) in order to get a direct tract into medical school. You’ll learn more about her pivot and discovering herself in public health and health equity. After starting medical school and then pivoting out, Jasmine was a public health visiting student at University of Maryland.

Jasmine was a Medical Assistant at Potomac Pediatrics which sort of prompted her want to learn more about health informatics. This was apparent when she additionally took on the role as In-House Technology Supervisor at Potomac Pediatrics. Jasmine also volunteered at CrisisLink as a Hotline Crisis Counselor and Counselor Interviewer.

Jasmine went on to pursue her Master of Public Health with a concentration in public health informatics at University of Minnesota. During her time there, she was on the Health Disparities Work Group and was a Health Equity Research Intern at CommonHealth ACTION. Jasmine then moved on to work as a Senior Research Analyst at NORC at University of Chicago.

Jasmine then moved into a Pediatrics Practice Consultant role at Large Health Plan after first consulting with Black Ladies in Public Health. She has had two promotions during the pandemic – she moved into a Senior Pediatric Practice Consultant and is now the Health Equity Enterprise Manager.

Additionally, Jasmine has begun her consulting business Health Equity Jazz where health equity and social justice are her jazz. Learn more about the thought process for her staring this.
