Vi Tran, MSW, MPH is a recent graduate from the University of Washington in the dual degree of Master of Social Work and Master of Public Health. Vi currently works as a Research Interventionist at Kaiser Permanente WA Health Research Institute.
Vi shares that she was inspired to go to Boston University since she was 14 years old by a song and although she grew up on the West Coast of the USA. This led to her getting early admission into Boston University’s undergraduate program out of high school.
She pursued her Bachelors of Arts in Neuroscience at Boston University. During her undergraduate she had several roles. These included being a Research Intern at Inserm which is a study abroad program for pre-medicine students, a Research Assistant at University of California – San Francisco, and a Research Assistant at Boston University. Vi also did some facilitation with Okizu, a counseling service for children Cancer Patients and their families.
After graduating with her Bachelors, Vi pursued a double masters degree at University of Washington. She got her Master of Social Work with a concentration in Mental Health and her Master of Public Health in the concentration in health services. She completed these dual programs in 3 years. During her masters she worked as a Family Services and Mental Health Therapist at Accelerator YMCA as well as a Clinical Social Worker at the US Department of Veterans Affairs.
Vi worked as a Mixed Methods Researcher at University of Washington which she began during her masters degrees. Additionally, she was also a Research Specialist at Kaiser Permanente WA Research Institute. She was promoted into the role of Research Interventionist in January 2021 and this is the role she currently holds.
