Nikita is unique in the sense that she knew she wanted to pursue a career in public health in her early ages having an aunt with a Master of Public Health. Nikita’s first experience in public health was as an Assistant to an Epidemiologist at the Pan American Health Organization Guyana‘s office.

She went on to get her Bachelors of Science in Community Health at the University of Maryland. She was in the Chevy Chase Leadership Internship Program at the University Center at University of Maryland. Additionally during undergrad, she was an Education and Research Intern at Lupus Foundation of America and as a Health Policy and Practice Intern at the American Public Health Association. She was CHES certified upon graduating.

Nikita then went on to get her Master of Public Health at Emory University in Global Health. In hindsight, she reflects that she would have rather taken another concentration as she expresses on the show. During her MPH, she was a Researcher at Georgia Maternal & Infant Health Research Group and a Graduate Assistant for the CDC.

Nikita then moved back to Guyana after graduating and got a job as a Health Education Officer at the Ministry of Health in Guyana. She then moved back to the USA and became a Technical Assistance Liaison at Northrop Grumman Corporation. And later was a Program Technical Support Unit at ADRA International.

Once again, Nikita relocated, but now this time to Canada where she began a role as Research Assistant: Project Management and Partnership at McGill University. She then shifted into her current role as a Project Administrator: School of Population and Global Health at McGill.

Lastly, Nikita is the Host & Creator of The Good Health Cafe where she shares candid, insightful conversations to help you understand how to navigate the healthcare system and your health. Check her out on IG @TheGoodHealthCafe.
