Episode 21 of Public Health Careers

Welcome back to the podcast! I have finally got into North Carolina and have started my new job at the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust as a Health Program Officer. I appreciate all your patience and I am back to reintroduce the podcast and continue to bring you value.

In this episode I get personal and completely transparent as to one of the main reasons for driving me to create this podcast. And it’s probably not what you expect, but I am eternally grateful to all of you lovely people for supporting me in one of my toughest moments as of late. I go on to talk about the importance of starting with strength based approached instead of focusing on health disparities.

I talk a little about my role and the many many reasons I am excited for it – including getting to work with a great team at KBR, the innovative way we grant and work with community partners, and much more! I don’t think I cover this enough properly, but I am still learning so I will talk more about it as I get more familiar in my new role.

Additionally, I give advice on why you should develop a savings for when you’re transitioning jobs, retirement accounts and LinkedIn messaging.

I also officially am announcing the book that I have begun to work on to better help you navigate your MPH career (and other health related degrees). Also I will be pushing to use my LinkedIn group, The Public Health Millennials to continue to build community among us public health students and professionals.

I am also looking for someone to help me with my LinkedIn group, if you are interested please either DM me on Instagram or email me (thePHmillennial@gmail.com).
